International Dimension

The international dimension is at the heart of the work throughout the school - curriculum planning, links across the world, special weeks/events, charity work. International work has brought vibrancy, enjoyment and relevance to the learning process. The children have a greater enthusiasm, and motivation to learn about other people and cultures, and have a deeper understanding and awareness of the world in which they live. Everyone has a strong and shared commitment to international issues, and enriching global learning, through providing a range of high quality experiences.

Within this we have achieved two International School Awards (2002, 2008) and have most recently achieved a Leading Aspect Award for leading practice in "Using the international dimension to help develop a creative and innovative curriculum, and develop global citizenship."

After a visit by the British Council we were invited to put up a display of children's international work at the International School Awards in London in 2008, and received many positive comments. As part of the Leading Aspect Awards ceremony we put up another display of children's work in Birmingham.

We have, and have had, links with numerous countries in Europe via the Comenius Project and Uganda and Bali via DFID funding.
